Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Worker Expression of Interest (WEOI) fee for the AAIP?

$135, in effect since April 7, 2026, payable within 24 hours of submitting your WEOI. Source: alberta.ca/aaip-updates.

What is Alberta's 2026 PNP allocation?

6,603 nominations, including an additional 200 from IRCC announced August 10, 2026. As of October 7, 2026, 5,541 had been issued and 1,062 remained.

Which sectors does Alberta prioritize for 2026?

Health care, technology, construction, manufacturing, aviation, agriculture and Rural Renewal designated communities — a list the AAIP describes as 'not exhaustive'.

Do physicians and Francophones nominated under the federal initiative count against Alberta's 6,603 allocation?

No. Nominations of practice-ready physicians and Francophone candidates under a separate federal initiative of up to 10,000 extra spaces across all PNPs do not count toward Alberta's 6,603. In 2026 so far, 50 physicians and 12 Francophones were nominated this way.

Does Alberta disclose its draw selection criteria in advance?

No. The AAIP publishes minimum EOI scores and invitation counts after each draw but states it 'does not disclose recent draw parameters' in advance, and the EOI score is not the only selection factor.
