As of March 25, 2025, a valid job offer no longer adds CRS points (previously 50–200). It may still help through a provincial nomination or by exempting you from proof-of-funds requirements (only if you are also authorized to work in Canada).

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is a points-based system used to rank Express Entry candidates. Your CRS score determines whether you receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency.
CRS scores range from 0 to 1,200 points. Core factors (age, education, language, work experience) account for up to 500 points for single applicants or 460 for married applicants. Additional points come from skill transferability (up to 100), a provincial nomination (600), and other factors. A valid job offer no longer adds CRS points (removed March 25, 2025).
IRCC conducts regular Express Entry draws, inviting candidates above a minimum CRS cut-off. Check the latest draw scores below to see where you stand.
A CRS score of 520+ is currently competitive: IRCC has not held a general, all-program draw since April 2024, so Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draws are the closest equivalent, and those have cut off around 516-523 in recent 2026 rounds. Category-based draws can have much lower cutoffs — as low as 382 for French-language draws, and even lower for physician-specific draws. A Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) nomination adds 600 CRS points, making even a moderate CRS score competitive.
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) awards points across four areas: core human capital (age, education, language, Canadian work experience — up to 500 points), spouse factors (up to 40 points), skill transferability (up to 100 points), and additional points (up to 600) for a provincial nomination, Canadian post-secondary education, a sibling in Canada, or French-language ability. A valid job offer no longer adds CRS points (removed March 25, 2025). Maximum total is 1,200 points.
There is no fixed minimum CRS score. IRCC has not held a general, all-program Express Entry draw since April 2024, so there is no single published cutoff that applies to everyone. Recent Canadian Experience Class draws have cut off around 507-523 in 2026. Category-based draws for healthcare, trades, transport, senior managers, and French speakers have had 2026 cutoffs as low as 382 (French-language draws), with physician-specific draws cutting off even lower. A Provincial Nomination adds 600 CRS points, which all but guarantees an invitation regardless of your base score.
Key ways to increase your CRS score: improve language test scores (IELTS/CELPIP/TEF), get a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) nomination (+600 points), complete Canadian education (+15-30 points), learn French for bilingual bonus (+25-50 points), or gain more work experience. A valid job offer no longer adds CRS points directly (removed March 25, 2025), but it can still help you qualify for a provincial nomination.
IRCC typically holds Express Entry draws roughly every two weeks. Since 2023, draws have mostly been category-based (targeting specific occupations, such as healthcare, trades, or transport, or French-language ability) or program-specific (Canadian Experience Class, Provincial Nominee); IRCC has not held a general, all-program draw since April 2024. Draw results are published on the IRCC website.
