National Occupational Classification (NOC)
The NOC is Canada's standard system for classifying every occupation with a code, used by IRCC to determine eligibility for federal and provincial immigration programs.
Each occupation has a 5-digit NOC 2021 code and a TEER category (0-5) reflecting its typical training and experience. IRCC uses the NOC/TEER to check Express Entry eligibility (CEC requires TEER 0-3) and many PNP streams. Match actual job duties to the NOC's lead statement and main duties, not just the job title, since titles vary between countries.
