Restoration of Status

Restoration lets a temporary resident whose permit already expired apply, within 90 days, to restore status and get a new permit — but they can't legally work or study during restoration itself.

Needs extra fees beyond the regular permit fee (e.g. a CUAET holder restoring to an OWP pays restoration + work permit + OWP holder fees, plus biometrics if required). After 90 days without restoring, the person has no status and risks removal — treat as urgent, not routine.
