Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET)

CUAET was a temporary-residence measure launched March 17, 2022 for Ukrainians and immediate family, no longer accepting new applications but still governing those with CUAET-linked permits.

Allowed quick arrival, up to 3 years' stay, and a free open work/study permit. New applications closed July 15, 2023; 298,000+ arrived of 962,000+ approved. Only existing CUAET-linked status holders remain covered, including under the April 2026 extension (April 1, 2026–March 31, 2027).
